We’ve been busy behind the scenes at QRP ARCI.
Over the past several weeks, we’ve updated our membership and QRP Quarterly subscription records and brought our existing print subscribers into our new online system.
That’s a big change for QRP ARCI, and it brings something new with it.
Our print subscribers now have digital access to the QRP Quarterly archive.
Print subscribers will continue receiving QRP Quarterly in the mail, but now they can also log into the QRP ARCI website and read the available digital issues through Calaméo.
Digital subscribers have the same online access during their subscription period.
This is the first time we’ve been able to provide this kind of access to our print subscribers, and we’re excited to finally have it available.
Print Subscribers: Check Your Email and Log In
Existing print subscribers were sent an email with information to access their account.
We’ve established an account and temporary password for each subscriber. Follow the link in the email, reset your password and log in. From there, you’ll be able to access Calaméo and the available QRP Quarterly archive.
If you haven’t logged in yet, give it a try.
If you run into a problem after trying to log in or reset your password, then let me know. I’ll be happy to help.
Membership and Subscriptions Are Different
This is also a good time to clear up something that can occasionally cause confusion.
Once you receive a QRP ARCI membership number, you’re a member for life.
A QRP Quarterly subscription is separate.
You can subscribe for one or two years and choose either digital or print delivery. Your subscriber benefits, including Calaméo access, continue through your paid subscription period.
When the subscription ends, you return to member status unless you renew.
Your subscription can expire. Your QRP ARCI membership doesn’t.
And you don’t have to subscribe to QRP Quarterly to be a QRP ARCI member. We also have a member-only option for those who want to stay connected with QRP ARCI without a magazine subscription.
We’ll have more to say about that soon.
18,000+ Records Is a Lot of Information
This project involved reviewing and updating more than 18,000 member records, some of them going back many years.
We took our time with it.
Accuracy matters, and so does protecting the information our members and subscribers have given us.
But 18,000+ records also means there are going to be things that need attention. An old email address. A mailing address that changed. A typo. A renewal that needs another look.
If something needs to be corrected, let’s correct it.
If you have a question or something doesn’t look right, email me at treasurer@qrparci.org. Include your name, call sign and membership number if you know it. If the question involves a recent payment, the approximate date is helpful.
Please don’t send credit card information by email.
We’re Not Finished
There’s more coming.
We’re continuing to work on the QRP ARCI website, the member area and other improvements that will give our members more ways to connect with QRP ARCI.
All of this work is being done by volunteers.
That’s important to remember. QRP ARCI doesn’t have a large staff sitting in an office handling membership and subscriber questions. The people doing this work have jobs, families and lives outside amateur radio.
But being a volunteer organization doesn’t change our responsibility to our members.
We take that responsibility seriously.
We’ll answer questions. We’ll research problems. And if something in our records needs to be fixed, we’ll work to fix it. We simply ask for a little patience when something requires more than a quick answer.
We’ve accomplished a lot with this latest update, and there’s more ahead.
More than 18,000 membership numbers can look like a database.
We see 18,000+ QRP ARCI members.
And we’ll keep working on it one member at a time.
Build. Operate. Compete. Connect.
